Thunder for EC2 presents a simple and intuitive interface which will create a duplicate instance of your production instances at another region of your choosing. From there, it will automate creating snapshots of the primary, copying them to the secondary and attaching those snapshots to the secondary instance. All secondary instances are powered on and then off as a test after each snapshot transfer to confirm all necessary components are present. Deep testing can be performed for certain applications such as MySQL, whereby the product will connect to the secondary instance and run a test transaction. A single failover button can migrate all workload to your secondary site in case of disaster. Route53 DNS addresses can also failed over automatically if you so choose. With all of the testing you can be confident your workload will failover properly if needed.
