Andrew is the Managing Director of Global Education and Workforce at Amazon Web Services. His focus is driving innovation and workforce development by increasing adoption of cloud-based programs and solutions in the US and internationally. He leads transformation at state and country-levels, helping create the next generation of learners and innovators. Prior to joining Amazon, Andrew was the Corporate Vice President of Samsung Global Education and the European B2B division, based in South Korea, where he launched mobile learning solutions for Education in Croatia, India, Italy and the U.S. Prior to Samsung, Andrew was the General Manager for Microsoft Corporation’s U.S. Education business where he led the Partners in Learning team creating new and innovative ways for teaching and learning. He also led the White House ConnectED initiative shaping a public-private partnership model to provide technology and internet access to millions in school. Andrew has several political appointments: In January 2014, Governor Terry McAuliffe appointed Andrew as a member of the Virginia State Board of Education, and in 2016, he was appointed to Virginia’s School Readiness Committee for improving the early childhood education workforce in the Commonwealth. In 2018, Governor Ralph Northam appointed Andrew to the Online Virginia Network Authority, which aims to provide individuals with opportunities to earn online degrees and postsecondary education credentials. Andrew also serves on several boards, including the Northern Virginia Community College Foundation board and the Fairfax County Public Schools Foundation.

Laura is the Co-Director of the K12 Lab at the Stanford d.school. Her work focuses on how human-centered design can be used to provide equitable and innovative educational experiences that will help all students thrive in a changing world. She was the principal of two High Tech High schools, has taught middle and high school classes in public charter and comprehensive schools. She has also designed and led global adult learning programs focused on designing for equity and deeper learning.

Michael Horn speaks and writes about the future of education and works with a portfolio of education organizations to improve the life of each and every student. He is the author of the book, Choosing College: How to Make Better Learning Decisions Throughout Your Life (2019), which strips away the noise around college to help students and parents understand why they are going to school and how to make better choices, as well as aids schools in design better experiences.

Horn serves as the head of strategy for the Entangled Group, an education venture studio, and as a senior partner for Entangled Solutions, a strategy consultancy for the education ecosystem. He is also the co-founder of and a distinguished fellow at the Clayton Christensen Institute for Disruptive Innovation, a non-profit think tank.

Horn is the author and coauthor of multiple books, white papers, and articles on education, including the award-winning book Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns and the Amazon-bestseller Blended: Using Disruptive Innovation to Improve Schools. An expert on disruptive innovation, online learning, blended learning, competency-based learning, and how to transform the education system into a student-centered one, he serves on the board and advisory boards of a range of education organizations, including the Clayton Christensen Institute, the Robin Hood Learning+Tech Fund, and the LearnLaunch Institute. He also serves as an executive editor at Education Next and is a venture partner at NextGen Venture Partners.

Horn was selected as a 2014 Eisenhower Fellow to study innovation in education in Vietnam and Korea, and Tech&Learning magazine named him to its list of the 100 most important people in the creation and advancement of the use of technology in education. Horn holds a BA in history from Yale University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Preethi is an entrepreneurship major at the Kelley School at Indiana University. She fell deeply in love with the education aspect of entrepreneurship. Her love for entrepreneurship stemmed in Austin at the 3 Day startup program. Since then, Preethi has started a Non-profit called STEM innovators which is centered around STEM based entrepreneurship education for underprivileged girls. She also served as an Ambassador for the United Nations Youth Assembly where she brought together students at the International conference to collaborate with global leaders to work on the UN Sustainable development goals with a focus on improving access/quality of education. Following these career developments, Preethi has moved to be a 3DS facilitator and education intern for Launch X at MIT and where she has been able to bring together her education and entrepreneurship passions. Last year she conducted research about the impact of Emotional Intelligence on the success of startups in Austin. In her free time, Preethi enjoys reading, writing, debating real world problems and mentoring social impact oriented startup companies.

Sara Schapiro leads PBS’s efforts to deepen partnerships across the education sector by engaging directly with educator communities and launching new initiatives that empower and support students, educators, parents and member stations. With a focus on teachers, a large part of her efforts are focused on expanding PBS’s educational impact through content, community and professional development. This includes such tools as PBS LearningMedia, a digital platform of free, classroom-ready resources from PBS stations and partners, and initiatives like PBS KIDS Edcamps, a partnership with the Edcamp Foundation to provide peer-led professional learning opportunities to early childhood educators, and the PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification by KQED, which recognizes educators who excel in creating and implementing instruction with media, and provides support to help all teachers accelerate these skills. Prior to PBS, Sara helped found Digital Promise, an independent, bipartisan nonprofit whose mission is to spur innovation and improve all Americans’ opportunity to learn. She launched and led Digital Promise’s flagship initiative, the League of Innovative Schools, a national coalition of public school districts that fosters collaboration among educators, entrepreneurs, researchers and thought partners. Prior to Digital Promise, Sara worked for the New York City Department of Education, Chicago Public Schools, the New Jersey Department of Education and Pearson on pioneering teaching and learning projects, educational technology initiatives and teacher and student engagement efforts. She holds a B.A. from Duke University and a Master’s of Public Policy from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy Studies.
